When we were approached by the new owners of The Carleton on Argyle street about the possibility of some renovation work, we were pretty excited to be part of helping a beloved Halifax institution enjoy an upgrade and facelift. What we did not appreciate at the time is how the scope of the work would grow to become a complete overhaul of the front of house for this historic watering hole.
The beautiful design work was provided by By and Large Studios. It was such a pleasure to see their excellent design work come to life.
Its a really good thing that the design was in someone else’s hands, as our entire team (and several members of other teams we had to recruit) had our hands full to overflowing making sure that this project was delivered on time. Only 7 weeks to complete the work. Only being able to work 8am to 5 pm. Needing to be partially open for 4 days in the middle of the schedule. These would have all driven the project over the edge had it not been for our working with one of the most hands-on, understanding, and collaborative clients we have every had the pleasure of working with.
The challenges were too many to list here, so we just want to extend our gratitude to the army of carpenters, suppliers, plumbers, painters, drywallers, flooring installers, beer tap installers, electricians, HVAC installers, delivery drivers, city officials, and demolition contractors that helped pull this very large rabbit out of a very small hat.
